CSA & DOT Update

  • Tuesday, February 14, 2012
A few quick updates for you with regard to changing DOT rules and regulations. Schedule one prescription drugs, even when prescribed by a doctor, that are in violation of federal prohibited substances will not be acceptable for a commercial driver to have in his or her system, and will result in enforcement action taken.

A conviction for violation of the hands-free cell phone law is considered a serious violation, just as following too close or 15 or more miles per hour over the speed limit, and will be subject to the dot penalty where two such violations in a three year period will result in a 60 days suspension of a drivers driving privilege. If you have a push button, to speak cell phone, you can push the one button for the speaker in a moving commercial vehicle to use it, as long as you can reach it with your seat belt fastened.

As professional drivers it is very important that you stay informed with changing regulations. If we can be of assistance please feel free to let us know how we can help.
